Web 2.0 Project

The Web 2.0 Project is soon coming to an end. I had a great time building the website and working with my friends. The work was tough, with endless hours of website editing and typing. If I could do the project over I would make more time to work on the website as well as buy an IPad beforehand so I could the drawings at my house instead of doing it in class, many diagrams were lost or ruined by other people using the IPads. This website was a great experience for me and I hope the students in the future will enjoy it too.

Pollution

Pollution is very bad for the environment. It's a very bad habit that people have now of dumping things in oceans, beaches, intercoastals and more. Most people don't realize what damage they're causing, the plastic bags polluted in oceans can be mistaken for a jellyfish by a sea turtle or an other animal and try to eat it, if they do, they can choke and get seriously injured. We shouldn't take advantage of the place we call home, if pollution continues, there will be very dangerous and serious consequences. If we take action now, we can save our planet from complete and utter destruction.

One new topic I learned this week.

This week we started to talk about seashells and mollusks. We watched a Brain Pop video about it that explained what are mollusks and the different varieties of mollusks. There is two types of mollusks, gastropods and bivalves. Gastropods are mollusks that are made up of one shell and are not hinged or joined together and bivalves are two pieced shells that are hinged, like a clam. I did an activity on seashell classification and their location on www.seashells.org/.

The Group

     My group for the Web 2.0 project is good, we have our times when we disagree with each other or when we feel relieved when someone finished a part on the website. Our strenghts are working together and getting along because were all close friends, but our weaknesses are putting information on the website but we still get it done and me doing the wave drawling on the IPad app Doddle Buddy. On the other hand working as a team is great, it has it's ups and downs but in the end it all turns out to be fine.

What I learned this week.

     This week we learned about the IPad and an app on it called Doddle Buddy. Doddle Buddy is a drawing and game app. You can Doddle any thing you want and play games like Tic-Tac-Toe and Hangman. When we first started using the IPads in class, it was my first time holding or using one, and some people looked at me like I was stupid because I was so amazed and I couldn't put the IPad on its stand. It was really fun getting to know the technology, even though it took a while to get used to.

IPad, Doddle Buddy and Other Uses.

In class we had an IPad demo about an app called Doddle Buddy. Doddle Buddy is an app where you can draw and basically doddle images on the IPad. You can do Tic-Tac-Toe, Hangman and more. I have never held or used and IPad before so it was pretty exciting for me, but people looked at me like I was stupid because I couldn't figure out how to put it on it's stand. In Doddle Buddy, I have to make a beach diagram and a land form diagram about the beach. I don't really know any other uses for the IPads except for inputting data because I don't have any other knowledge on what the IPad's technology is capable of. 

What I learned in class so far.....

    Since the Marine Animal Power Point Presentations, my class has been learning about the beach and doing water testing experiments as well as making our blogs and websites for the Web 2.0 Project, and in the meantime doing Reading Plus. The Web 2.0 Project is making the websites and making blogs. The purpose of the project is to get ahead and ready for the 8th grade science FCAT because on the FCAT there will be questions on it that have to do with the ocean ecosystem, the project will last for 6 weeks which will be enough time to create the entire website.
